Ellis-Taylor plays Vernetta, Roberta’s determined but concerned mother. Outrageous that the military would treat her daughter this way, she is unfazed by Roberta’s attempts at deflection and urges her to seek help from her father about her situation. She succeeds in putting as much distance as possible between herself and Crow County until her daughter’s quest for revenge draws her back to her hometown.
