“People mock, insult and criticize me…”
A trending Korean star has candidly shared her feelings about malicious comments about her appearance and criticism of photo editing.
Recently, Choi Jun Hee opened up on her social media about the pain caused by malicious comments surrounding plastic surgery, photo editing and her appearance.

Expressing her frustration, she said: “I may have had plastic surgery. I might look a little different than real life. Photo editing is supposed to exist for that. Why do people insult me so much when I already struggle with severe appearance anxiety? I feel so upset I could smash the mirror.“
She also revealed her concerns about her face shape. “My face is quite flat. I work so hard to reduce it. People leave mean comments saying I don’t look like my mother but all my body structure, bones and face shape come from my father. Only my features and ears come from my mother, but people mock, insult and criticize me for editing… I cry every day looking in the mirror.“

Choi shared complex feelings about being loved for her edited look. “When I get compliments and people say I’m beautiful, it feels like the edited avatar version of me is the one that’s loved. It’s like a version of me that I created. I wonder who this face reflected in the camera really is.”
She added, “Even editing my photos these days, I really cry. This face without any solution is so frustrating,” reveals her distress from appearance-related complexes.

As an influencer, Choi Jun Hee admitted that she also feels anxiety about her appearance in daily life. “Even though I’m an influencer, when I go out and someone just looks at me, I panic and think, ‘They must think I’m ugly’, ‘What if they recognize me?’ ‘Will it end on Nate Pan?’ This appearance anxiety really ruins a person’s daily life,” she shared.
In response, fans left encouraging comments such as, “You clearly look like your mother. you are beautiful“”Whether you look like your mom or dad, you are beautiful now, so don’t worry,” and “You are already beautiful and shining. Cheers for you.“

Born in 2003, Choi Jun Hee is known as the daughter of the late Choi Jin Sil and former baseball player Jo Sung Min. Choi previously suffered from lupus and experienced weight gain of up to 96 kg due to the side effects of steroids taken during treatment. However, she managed to lose weight up to 47 kg while preparing for a body profile shoot, which attracted public attention. Since then, she has maintained a slim figure of 41 kg at 170 cm tall through consistent management. She also openly shared about her plastic surgeries, which attracted further attention.
In May, she will marry her boyfriend, who is 11 years her senior and with whom she has been in a long-term relationship.
