Currently working with Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2026 as an assistant under Dan Vettori, Helmot has been Renegades’ WBBL coach since 2021 and took the club to their first title in 2024. the club for a new challenge.
Renegades general manager James Rosengarten paid tribute to Helmot’s contribution to the club. “Simon has been an extraordinary Renegades person for a long time, and someone who has given so much to our club,” said Rosengarten. “He not only achieved success on the field, but had a great impact on the people and the environment around him.
“The way he engages with players, staff and supporters and the care he brings to his work has left a lasting mark on our program and the wider Victorian cricket community. He leaves with our full support as he takes on an exciting new opportunity, and we are incredibly proud to see him continue his journey. He will always be a valued part of the Renegades family.”
The 54-year-old Helmot has been an integral part of Renegades’ organization since the inception of the BBL in 2011-12, when he was Renegades’ first men’s BBL coach for four seasons. In between, he forged a career as a franchise coach around the world by winning a title in the CPL.
