Bangladeshs new selection panel, led by Habibul Basharyou announced an unchanged 15-team – what Beat Pakistan 2-1 last month at home – for the first two ODIs against New Zealandwhich will be played on April 17 and 20 in Dhaka. The third ODI will be played on April 23 in Chattogram.

Bashar said that his panel wants continuity in selection, and especially wants to see a bit more of Saif before taking a call.

“Bangladesh played good cricket in the last series,” said Bashar. “There were players in the team who didn’t get a chance to play in the XI. We have set a policy that we want to give a player enough opportunities in the team. We don’t want to exclude someone from the team without giving him enough chances. We believe in continuity, and that’s why we kept the same team.

“Obviously the previous selection committee had a plan. They included Saif as an opener in the last series. We want to establish that position in the team. We believe three games is not enough for a player. We want to give him a few more chances. We don’t want to chop and change. Saif Hassan will get that opportunity, and only then can we make a decision.”

Five members of the Bangladesh ODI squad are currently playing PSL 2026: Nahid, Mustafizur, Shoriful, Rishad Hossain and Tanzid Hasan. They will link up with the rest of the squad on April 12, with only Mustafizur expected to return to the PSL after the one-day series ends on April 23. The two teams will then play a three-T20I series.
