Kevin Bacon to Star in Hulu’s ‘Southern Bastards’ Pilot

Additionally, Reynaldo Marcus Green (“King Richard,” “The Punisher: One Last Kill”) has joined the cast to direct and executive produce the pilot, taking over directing duties from Nia DaCosta.

The official logline says the show “follows a dogged county vet to Crow County, Alabama, in search of her estranged father (Bacon). What she discovers is an organized crime den of murderous hornets run by the South’s most winning high school football coach.”

Bacon plays Earl. “The son of legendary Sheriff Burt, who ruled Crow County with an iron fist, Earl is a tough but humble blue-collar Army veteran, eager to mend fences and reconnect with his daughter, and unafraid to stir up the hornet’s nest that is Crow County.”

Bacon’s recent TV roles include Netflix’s “Sirens” and Amazon Prime Video’s “The Bondsman.” He previously played the title role in Amazon’s comedy series “I Love Dick,” which ran for one season and earned Bacon a Golden Globe Award nomination. Bacon’s other TV roles include the Showtime series “City on a Hill” and Fox’s “The Following.” He is best known for his film roles such as iconic performances in ‘Footloose,’ ‘Hollow Man,’ ‘Mystic River,’ ‘Apollo 13,’ ‘Tremus,’ and ‘A Few Good Men.’

Bacon is represented by MGMT, Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole and Viewpoint. Green is repped by WME, Granderson des Rochers and ID.

Bill Dubuque and DaCosta share joint story credit on “Southern Bastards,” with Dubuque writing the teleplay and executive producing. Matt Olmstead will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Jason Aaron and Jason Latour, who created the graphic novel, will executive produce. POV Entertainment’s Layne Eskridge also executive produces, along with Proximity Media and Green’s Ryan Coogler, Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler. Simone Harris of Proximity and Kate Berry co-executive produce of POV. Proximity Media creative executives Hannah Baker and D’Angelo Louis will also oversee the project. This series was produced in conjunction with Fifth Season.
